Luke Smith is a solicitor in Rothera Sharp’s Commercial Property department and is based at our Lace Market office.
Luke has over seven years’ experience of residential and commercial property work in a variety of high street, regional and national law firms working with a diverse range of clients, as well as a specialist knowledge of high net worth property portfolios and charity and social housing work.
Luke can advise clients on a wide range of commercial and residential property matters including all aspects of commercial leasing, option and overage agreements, auction property, Buy-to-Let purchases; commercial mortgages and bridging finance, social/affordable housing schemes, charity disposals, and transfers of part and development work.
Luke prides himself on being highly responsive and provides an efficient and fast turnaround paired with extensive knowledge and experience and a friendly nature. He always likes to meet clients face to face at the outset, including visiting clients at their home or place of business so that he can provide a personal approach and get to know them to ensure he fully understands their business needs and the markets they operate in.
Qualifications & Experience
Luke completed his LLB Law degree at the University of Hull between 2009 and 2012 and went on to attain his LPC at Nottingham Law School the following year.
Prior to completing his LPC, Luke worked for local firm Fraser Brown Solicitors as a paralegal in Residential Property. In 2014, he relocated to Loughborough to continue working in Residential Property as a non-qualified fee earner. Luke commenced his training contract in Leicester at Douglas Wemyss Solicitors where he completed seats in Residential and Commercial Property, Litigation and Private Client before qualifying into Commercial Property in March 2017.
Upon qualification Luke worked for EMW, a national commercial law firm in Milton Keynes. He advised clients on an array of commercial real estate matters whilst also assisting with social housing and development work acting for some of the UK’s largest social housing providers. Luke has also worked for a regional firm in Rugby undertaking a mixed role of high net worth residential and commercial property work before holding a temporary role advising on complex bespoke residential and commercial property matters.
Luke joined Rothera Sharp in November 2019.
