Billy Shaw is a Trainee Solicitor in our commercial litigation and debt recovery departments. Billy started his Training Contract with us in September 2018 and is based in the Lace Market office.
Billy graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2017 with a first-class LLB degree. During his undergraduate degree, Billy won several academic prizes including the Vice Chancellor’s Award, the Trent Law Prize for the best LLB results and the Richard Sutcliffe Mooting Prize. Billy obtained a Distinction on his LPC modules in 2018, and is due to complete the LLM in 2019.
During his time at university, Billy was heavily involved in a broad range of pro bono work with the Nottingham Law School Legal Advice Centre. Billy mainly represented clients in the Social Security Tribunals. In recognition of his services, Billy was shortlisted for the LawWorks and Attorney General’s Pro Bono Awards “Best Contribution by an Individual Student” and was invited to the ceremony at the House of Commons.
In the commercial litigation department, Billy assists with a range of litigation disputes across several practice areas including wills and probate, commercial and residential property, commercial contracts and professional negligence. Billy also assists with the general enquiries that the firm receives.
Billy also has a keen interest in business development. Billy has boardroom and business development experience as he is a non-executive director of a youth charity in South Yorkshire. Billy also enjoys attending marketing events.
