We are delighted to announce the appointment of three trainee solicitors who are commencing their training contracts with us this autumn.
Joshua Morley, Jasmine Jackson and Joanne Derbyshire are the latest recruits for Rothera Sharp, which now has six members of staff completing their training contracts with the firm.
Joshua Morley will be completing his first seat in commercial property. He graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a first class LLB degree and obtained a Distinction on his LPC, which he attained at Nottingham Law School. Joshua has previously gained work experience at an East Midlands based firm and volunteered as a student legal adviser for Nottingham Law School’s Legal Advice Centre. Before accepting his training contract offer at Rothera Sharp Joshua worked as a paralegal at another local firm in both its residential conveyancing and commercial property departments. Alongside his training contract Joshua is also currently completing his LLM degree.
Joanne Derbyshire will be completing her first seat in personal injury at the Lace Market office. Joanne has previously worked for a law firm in Derby as a trainee paralegal in their personal injury (RTA) department. She joined Rothera Sharp in September 2018 where she started as a receptionist at the firm’s Beeston branch and progressed through the roles of legal secretary and family law legal assistant before starting her training contract this September.
Jasmine Jackson originally joined Rothera Sharp in June 2019 as a paralegal in the transport department. She will be undertaking her first seat in family at the Lace Market office in October. Jasmine graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2017 with a first-class LLB degree whilst also undertaking a placement year in a national law firm. She is also currently studying for her LPC and LLM part-time, which she is due to complete in 2020. Since graduating in 2017 Jasmine has spent 10 months in Nottinghamshire Police as a Graduate Police Investigative Officer and a further 10 months working within family law as a paralegal.
Jasmine says: “I am really looking forward to starting my first seat in family law. Joining Rothera Sharp as a paralegal in the transport department means that I have been able to familiarise myself with other colleagues in the firm and it has really helped build up my confidence. I feel like I will be able to hit the ground running when I commence my training contract with the family team.”
Rothera Sharp also has three other trainee solicitors currently completing their training contracts with the firm. Paige Regardsoe, who is in the second year of her training contract, joined Rothera Sharp in 2017 as a legal administrator before starting her training contract in April 2018. She has completed seats in dispute resolution, debt recovery and conveyancing. Billy Shaw, who joined the firm in September 2018 has completed seats in dispute resolution and debt recovery and is currently completing a seat in family. Christina Peck, who started her training contract in April 2019 has recently completed her first seat in the personal injury department. She is now based at our Beeston office to undertake a seat in wills and probate.
Rothera Sharp has also developed a Trainee Committee which is led by the firm’s current trainees to provide support and guidance to the latest recruits.
Rebecca Emeleus, Talent and Resourcing partner at Rothera Sharp said:
