Two of Rothera Sharp’s Personal Injury lawyers showed their mettle by going without a night’s sleep to walk just over 26 miles through the streets of London, raising money for breast cancer.
Rebecca Emeleus and Vicki Dodge took part in Walk the Walk’s Moonwalk marathon on Saturday 12th May and raised over £700.
The Moonwalk, which starts and finishes at Clapham Common, is well known for encouraging participants to wear decorated bras and this year was no exception. This year’s theme was the Wild West and Rebecca and Vicki didn’t fail to impress as they donned their embellished bras and bright pink Stetsons adorned with fairy lights.
Rebecca Emeleus said: “We were delighted to complete the walk for such an important cause. It was a truly amazing event that simply wouldn’t happen without the dedicated volunteers who give up their time and all the fantastic people that support the charity.”
Walk the Walk is the largest breast cancer charity in the UK, meaning that everyone who takes part in their challenges is raising money for Walk the Walk, who then grant funds to other charities and organisations throughout the UK.
Over the past 21 years that the charity has been in action Walk the Walk has raised in excess of £121 million, much of which has been granted to support a wide variety of organisations across the UK. £30 million of this has gone to Breast Cancer Now for a range of specific research studies including the Tissue Bank and The Breakthrough Generations Study, a 40 year study that is following the lives of over 100,000 people over a period of 40 years to look into the causes of breast cancer.
