A celebration of Nottingham cuisine was the theme at Rothera Sharp’s latest commercial networking event, which took place last week.
Held at The Herbert Kilpin on Bridlesmith Walk, the evening centred on local food sourced by some of Nottingham’s top suppliers, including a sourdough crisp created by Nottingham bakery Bake Off and Pie, Colwick cheese and Goose Fair mushy peas. The event was held on 23rd May to coincide with the Great Food and Drink Festival, which took place at Nottingham Castle from Saturday 27th to Monday 29th May.
Over 50 guests attended the evening including Nottingham Trent University, Tank PR, Age UK, financial accountants and chartered surveyors who were treated to seven dishes prepared by the chefs at The Herbert Kilpin. Dishes included an assiette of Nottinghamshire vegetables, grilled babygem, burnt Cauliflower purée, courgette, purple carrot, pickled beets and a vegetable crisp crumb; Alderton ham, quails egg, pineapple and chips; and poached rhubarb, caramelised yoghurt, ginger beer cake crumb and a red vein sorrel.
Alongside the menu guests were given a talk by author Robert Nieri on the history of the pub and the legacy of Herbert Kilpin who was born in Nottingham and went on to found AC Milan football club, having been a keen footballer from the age of 13 when he played in his first match at the Forest Recreation Ground.
Attendee Shirley Burns from Sense Financial Solutions said of the event: “It was a superb evening with delicious innovative food and a great format which enabled me to have a proper chat with new acquaintances.”
Speaking at the event, Anton Balkitis, Marketing Partner at Rothera Sharp commented:
“Since our merger last June we have hosted a number of events to let Nottingham know that Rothera Sharp are ‘open for business’. This is the 5th event with local businesses and professional contacts. From our launch party at Colwick Hall, to a night of tapas and wine, to film and Oscars awards and the Crime & Punishment Tour at the Galleries of Justice – It is all part of our positioning strategy to help professional contacts and businesses see Rothera Sharp as a ‘go to’ law firm for commercial legal services”.
