Rothera Sharp’s Family Law Solicitor Ann-Marie Bowman was the proud winner of the Services to Law category at the first English Women’s Awards 2018.
The awards, which took place at the Mercure Leicester Grand Hotel last night, celebrate the achievements of British women including entrepreneurs, civil servants, charity founders, and other professionals who have excelled in their industries, and serve as a platform to recognise the hard work, talent and commitment of these women, which is often under-represented.
As a solicitor in Rothera Sharp’s 11-strong family law team, Ann-Marie specialises in complex childcare proceedings and is viewed locally as a heavyweight in the area of Public Law due to the demanding and challenging cases that she is instructed to deal with. Alongside this she is also the firm’s Managing Partner, helping to oversee the day-to-day running of the firm and making plans for its future. She was nominated for the English Women’s Awards after an online campaign was run, with votes received from members of the public. Supporting evidence was also submitted in advance of the awards, further demonstrating Ann-Marie’s abilities.
Ten women were selected as finalists in the Services to Law category, which consisted of individuals from law firms across the Midlands including Actons in Nottingham, Timms Solicitors in Derby and Pick Everard in Leicester.
Over 100 guests were in attendance at last night’s awards which were presented by Deputy Editor of BBC Radio Leicester Kamlesh Purohit. Awards were handed out for 28 different categories including Corporate Leader of the Year, Contribution to Arts and Culture, Rising Star of the Year and CEO of the Year.
Ann-Marie said of her win: “It was an absolute privilege to receive this award. I have worked hard to juggle the demands of running the business and continuing to represent children and parents in care proceedings. I would like to congratulate everyone that received an award, and enjoyed meeting such inspirational and dedicated businesswomen.”
