A solicitor in Rothera Sharp’s family law team has been highly commended for Lawyer of the Year at the Modern Law Awards 2019.
Ann-Marie Bowman was selected as a finalist and up against five other solicitors from across the UK for the award. She was nominated for Lawyer of the Year on the basis of both her roles as a family law solicitor and as managing partner of Rothera Sharp, a position she held until a recent restructure and she now has the role of the firm’s Chairwoman.
The Modern Law awards, which are organised by Eclipse Proclaim and are in their sixth year, took place on Thursday 31st January at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester and celebrate talent and success in the area of modern legal services, including entrepreneurship, market development, business management and best practice.
The Lawyer of the Year category is awarded to a lawyer who has made a strong contribution to the success of their practice as evidenced by strong management and leadership, and success supported by improved financial performance and market profile.
As a family law solicitor Ann-Marie specialises in complex childcare proceedings, representing children, parents and other family members and has an unparalleled reputation for her expertise on childcare matters. In her additional role as managing partner Ann-Marie has been responsible for conducting the day to day running of the business, assessing performances and setting goals for the future.
“I was absolutely delighted to be nominated for this award and to be highly commended is a huge honour. It is difficult to juggle managing a law firm and continuing to run a caseload. I love the area of work I practice in but having the opportunity to be involved in the management of the firm as well is exciting, challenging and rewarding. I would like to thank the judges for recognising my achievements and my commitment to Rothera Sharp in this way.”
Hundreds of guests attended the award ceremony which was hosted by comedian Rod Woodward. Awards were handed out for 23 categories in total including Law Firm of the Year, Managing partner of the Year, In-house Team of the Year and Rising Star of the Year.
Ann-Marie was also recognised for her contributions to family law at last year’s English Women’s Awards in June 2018, where she won the Services to Law category.
